Update on leaving Yasmin For Good

So here is an update:

I took my last Yasmin pill on Saturday (12th of July) and now I am just waiting for my withdrawal period to start which should be on Thursday. (17th of July)

So, that means today is my second day since being off the pill. I am petrified of what might happen to my body, but I have to try stay positive.

I bought a lot of vitamins to help me with this transition. I even went to my GP to get some insight of what would work best etc. This was to no avail because it seems that Doctors don’t care about women going off the pill, which is a scary thought.

I just wasted my money going to the doctor. He said I should not read up on the internet because it’s not to say what happened to other women when they came off the pill that the exact same thing will happen to me.

Yes, he has a point but I also don’t agree with what he says.  Because, I asked him what Vitamins/Supplements I can take to ensure I help my body balance the hormones as quick as possible then he just said “there is nothing you can do but wait” and that “it takes the body between 3 and 6 months to regulate the hormones”.

So, I decided to take matters in my own hands and got all the vitamins I think should be able to support my body during this time.

The list is as follows:

Probiotic

Milk Thistle

Vitex (I won’t be using this during the first few months though)

Evening Primrose Oil

Omega 3 essential fatty acids

Multi Vitamin

Extra Vitamin C

Magnesium/Calcium

Liquorice Root Extract

Zinc supplement

I also got a prescription from the GP for Purbac – this is an antibiotic used to help clear up skin. I used it during my teenage years when I struggled with a bit of problem skin.

I really hope my skin will not go haywire, however I think it’s a given…. Have to just try look after it as best I can. s

I am also going to change my diet a bit. I am going to be incorporating 2 vegetable juices per day. I will start my breakfast with oats (no salt, no milk and no sugar) then for a mid morning snack I will have a salad consisting of Tomatoes, lettuce and some onion.

For lunch I will have chicken or fish and then for mid afternoon snack I will have a vegetable juice and then again for dinner.

I am going to cut out coffee, tea and dairy as far as possible.

I have heard that dairy is the worst for your skin – so will see if cutting this out will make a difference.

I am also currently exercising 6 days a week (5 days minimum)

I will not change my gym routine much, I will just keep on doing what I am doing at the moment. Especially since I read that a lot of women experienced some weight gain when they went off Yasmin.

I am going to be using Epsom Salt to bath in 2-3 days per week. This is said to help with water weight. I am also using USN Waterslim during the week at the moment especially after a cheat day or two over weekends.

My worst fear coming off the pill: PCOS!!!! I am terrified that I might have this condition. I always worry about things and ever since I read up about coming off the pill, I have read more about PCOS and I am really worried.

Currently I am not overweight, have dry skin and a head full of hair.

Will see what happens! I bought some Liquorice Root Drops to help assist with any hair loss that might occur – this is also another symptom when coming off the pill apparently.

I will not use it for longer than 4-6 weeks at a time as it’s not good for your health when you use it for prolonged periods of time.

If I missed anything, I will update next time J

Fed up with Yasmin birth control and ready to quit!

Who of you are currently taking the birth control pill Yasmin? I bet you so many women around the world!

Recently I have decided that I want to stop taking these synthetic hormones and get my body back to normal seeing that me and my husband want to start looking at starting a family early next year.

I have been on the pill for years now, I think close to 9 or 10 years without taking any breaks in between. I wish I had, just to give my body some time to "rest"

My sister is using Yaz, and I wish I could convince her too to get off the pill. These pills are so dangerous for us, and many people (like myself) don't even know about all the harmful aspects that this pill holds. WHY it is still so rapidly available on the market I don't know, but all I know is that I have had enough of this pill and want to get my body back to normal hormone function.

Only recently have I found out after reading up on this topic on the internet about the side effects. I am starting more and more to get migraines while taking this pill, restless legs (as well as sometimes painful legs) and I feel moody so many times during the month.

I am shocked to find out about all the horrific side effects when women stop taking this rubbish pill!

Some include: (only to name a few)

- Acne
- Facial Hair (excessive)
- Bloated
- Weight Gain (although I believe this is water retention)
- Hair loss
- lots of irregular cycles
- difficulty in falling pregnant

My purpose of starting this blog, is to post my journey once I go off this horrible pill. I will document my side effects as I experience them.

I have only recently found out that Yasmin contains a diuretic - so that is why many women who use Yasmin probably noted that they lost weight or found it easy to maintain their weight. I was on Dianne 35 previously as well as Ginette and both made me gain weight. I can't remember if I gained weight when I first started using Yasmin but I do know I never really had problems to loose any weight while being on this pill.

Apparently once you stop this pill, your body will retain as much as possible water and this can cause you to look "like you gained weight in a small amount of time"

I currently work out 6 days a week, and I check what I eat. I do have a "cheat day" sometimes every week or second week. I know I will have to check my diet even more once I go off this pill, in order to see what happens to my weight.

I have also made a list of vitamins that I will start taking the day I take my last pill. I have started my last packet yesterday and I am terrified, yet very happy to know that in 3 weeks I will quit this pill once and for all. I hope and pray that I won't have to ever go onto the pill ever again!!

Please do follow my blog if you are interested in quitting too and feel free to comment if you have gone off the pill and share your experiences!
